VTT to SRT Converter

Turn a WebVTT file into an SRT that Premiere Pro, CapCut and YouTube accept.

Free. No sign-up. Nothing leaves your device.

How it works

VTT files usually come from the web: a downloaded YouTube or Vimeo track, a browser player, an online course, or an auto-caption export. Most editing apps want SRT instead. Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut and many TV players either reject a .vtt file or show its markup as text.

Paste the VTT or upload it and the SRT appears straight away. The tool numbers every caption, switches the dot before the milliseconds to a comma, and removes the WEBVTT header along with any NOTE, STYLE and REGION blocks.

What changes and what stays

Got a YouTube auto-caption VTT?

Auto-generated YouTube VTT files often repeat each line two or three times, because every caption rolls up into the next. The converter keeps the timing exactly as the file has it, so you will see the same repetition in the SRT. If you would rather have clean, word-timed captions for the video itself, DesiCaptions writes them from the audio.

Skip the file juggling

Upload a video and DesiCaptions writes word-timed captions in Hinglish, Hindi and other Indian languages, then exports SRT, VTT, ASS or a burned-in video. 1 free minute, no card.

Frequently asked questions

Will VTT to SRT change my timing?

No. Only the notation changes. Every start and end time carries across to the millisecond.

Why does my SRT not have the colours from the VTT?

SRT has no standard way to carry WebVTT colour classes, so they are removed to stop players showing them as text. Convert to ASS if you need styled captions.

Can I convert SRT back to VTT?

Yes. Use the SRT converter and pick WebVTT.

Does it work with Hindi, Tamil or other scripts?

Yes. Any language and any script, emoji included, passes through untouched as UTF-8.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read and converted on your device and never leaves it.

Is it free?

Yes. No sign-up, no watermark and no limit beyond 5 MB per file. The conversion runs in your browser, so there is no server cost to pass on.
