How it works
Hinglish is how most of India types Hindi online: in English letters, the way it sounds. "Aaj hum kya banayenge" reads instantly to anyone scrolling Instagram, while the same line in Devanagari slows down a big part of the audience, especially people who speak Hindi fluently but grew up reading English.
This converter takes Hindi written in Devanagari and rewrites it in Roman script. It is not a letter-by-letter swap. It drops the silent "a" that Hindi speakers skip (so समझना becomes "samajhna", not "samajhana"), uses the spellings people actually type ("aaj", "theek", "mein", "pehle"), and turns English words written in Hindi letters back into English, so वीडियो becomes "video" and कैमरा becomes "camera".
Examples
| Hindi (Devanagari) | Hinglish (Roman) |
|---|---|
| आज हम क्या बनाएंगे? | aaj hum kya banayenge? |
| मुझे यह बात समझ नहीं आई | mujhe yeh baat samajh nahi aayi |
| चैनल को सब्सक्राइब करें | channel ko subscribe karein |
| ठीक है, पहले पानी गरम करो | theek hai, pehle paani garam karo |
Converting subtitle files
Upload an .srt, .vtt or .txt file and only the Hindi text changes. Subtitle numbers, timestamps and any English already in the file stay exactly as they are, so the converted file drops straight back into Premiere Pro, CapCut or DaVinci Resolve with the timing intact.
How accurate is it?
The converter follows fixed spelling rules plus a list of common words, and it runs entirely in your browser. Everyday Hindi comes out clean. Names, rare words and some compound words can come out spelled a little differently from how you would write them, because Hinglish has no single correct spelling. Read the result once and fix anything that looks off.
Nothing you paste is uploaded or stored. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it keeps working.

Is this Hindi to Hinglish converter free?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up and no limit, because the conversion runs in your browser rather than on a server.
Does it translate Hindi into English?
No. It changes the script, not the language. The words stay Hindi and are written in English letters, so "मैं ठीक हूँ" becomes "main theek hoon", not "I am fine".
Can I convert an SRT subtitle file?
Yes. Upload the .srt, .vtt or .txt file and download the converted copy. Timestamps and numbering are left untouched.
Why is a word spelled differently from how I write it?
Hinglish spellings vary from person to person (nahi or nahin, accha or acha). The converter picks the most common form. Edit the output box directly if you prefer another spelling.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The text never leaves your device. The page does not upload or save what you paste.
Can it go the other way, Hinglish to Hindi?
Not yet. Turning Roman spelling back into Devanagari is ambiguous without a much larger dictionary, so this tool only converts Devanagari to Roman.
