How it works
Roman Urdu is Urdu written in English letters, the way most people type it in comments, WhatsApp and Reels captions: "aap kaise hain?", "bohat shukriya". It reads instantly for anyone who speaks Urdu, and it works in every caption font.
Urdu script usually leaves out short vowels, so a letter-by-letter conversion reads badly. This converter knows the spelling of thousands of everyday words and their forms, so بہت becomes "bohat", شکریہ becomes "shukriya" and دوستوں becomes "doston". It reads میں as "main" or "mein" and کیا as "kya" or "kiya" from the sentence, joins future verbs the way people type them (جائیں گے becomes "jayenge"), and turns English words in Urdu script back into English, so ویڈیو becomes "video".

Converting subtitle files
Upload an .srt, .vtt or .txt file and only the Urdu text changes. Caption numbers, timestamps and any English already in the file stay exactly as they are, so the file goes straight back into Premiere Pro, CapCut or DaVinci Resolve with the timing intact.
How accurate is it?
On everyday captions about nine words in ten come out exactly as people type them, and the rest stay readable. Words the converter does not know are guessed from their letters, and because Urdu script leaves out short vowels, a rare word can come out slightly off. Read the result once and fix anything that looks wrong.

Is this Urdu to Roman Urdu converter free?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up and no limit, because the conversion runs in your browser rather than on a server.
Does it translate Urdu into English?
No. It changes the script, not the language. The words stay Urdu and are written in English letters, so "آپ کیسے ہیں؟" becomes "aap kaise hain?", not "How are you?".
Can I convert an SRT subtitle file?
Yes. Upload the .srt, .vtt or .txt file and download the converted copy. Timestamps and numbering are left untouched.
Why is a word spelled differently from how I write it?
People write Roman Urdu in different ways (bohat or bahut, nahi or nahin). The converter picks a common Pakistani form. Edit the result box directly if you prefer another spelling.
Why are some rare words spelled oddly?
Urdu script usually leaves out short vowels, so a word the converter does not know has to be guessed from its letters. Everyday words come out right because they are in its word list; a rare word can come out slightly off, so read the result once.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The text never leaves your device.
