Urdu Subtitle Generator
Urdu speech in, Roman Urdu or Urdu-script captions out.
Most subtitle tools treat Urdu as Hindi with a different alphabet, or render Urdu script left to right with the letters broken apart. But look at how Urdu is actually typed on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and WhatsApp, from Karachi and Lahore to Dubai, Birmingham and Toronto: "kya haal hai", "bohat acha", "zaroor dekhein". That is Roman Urdu, and for short-form video it is what your viewers read fastest.
DesiCaptions transcribes Urdu speech and writes it the way people type it, with the speaker's own words kept as spoken, English words kept in English and Urdu words in plain Roman letters. Prefer Urdu script? Switch the language to Urdu (Urdu script) and the same video comes out in proper Urdu letters, right to left, still in the words you said, with English sentences translated and the everyday loanwords Urdu creators actually use kept the way they write them.
Either way every word carries its own timestamp, so word-by-word and karaoke caption styles land on the beat, and the Urdu-script mode ships with fonts that actually contain the glyphs and join them, so you never get empty boxes, detached letters or an English word sitting on the wrong side of the line.
Why creators use it
Roman Urdu the way it is typed
Captions come out as "kya haal hai" and "bohat acha", the spelling your audience already uses in comments. No diacritics, no dictionary spellings.
Spoken Urdu, not news-bulletin Urdu
The captions say "kar raha hoon" when you said "kar raha hoon", in your own words and accent. Your viewers notice when a caption sounds like a newsreader.
Urdu script, right to left, when you want it
Pick the Urdu (Urdu script) mode for an Urdu-first audience. Bundled Urdu fonts keep every letter joined, and every caption style, from the spoken-word pill to the staircase and the word tiles, is laid out right to left in the editor and in the exported video.
Word-level timing
Every word carries its own timestamp, so word-by-word and karaoke caption styles land on the beat instead of drifting.

One sentence, every mode
The same spoken line as DesiCaptions writes it in each mode you can pick for this language:
Aaj main aap ko aik aisi zabardast cheez dikhane wala hoon jo aap ne apni poori zindagi mein pehle kabhi nahi dekhi hogi
آج میں آپ کو ایک ایسی زبردست چیز دکھانے والا ہوں جو آپ نے اپنی پوری زندگی میں پہلے کبھی نہیں دیکھی ہوگی
Today I am going to show you something absolutely amazing that you have never ever seen before in your entire life
What is different about captioning Urdu
Roman Urdu spells many words differently from Hinglish: "aik" rather than "ek", "bohat" rather than "bahut", "acha" rather than "accha". Roman Urdu captions follow the spelling Urdu audiences type and keep it consistent through the video.
Urdu script runs right to left, but English words and numbers inside an Urdu sentence still read left to right. Each caption line is ordered word by word for that mix, so an English word sits where it was said instead of on the wrong side of the line. Captions use Naskh-style faces (Noto Sans Arabic, Baloo Bhaijaan 2) rather than Nastaliq calligraphy, with about 38 characters per automatic caption.

What is Roman Urdu?
Urdu written in Roman letters, the way people type it on phones: "aap kaise hain", "mujhe nahi pata". It is not a translation, only the alphabet changes, and the words, tone and slang stay exactly as spoken.
Will Urdu-script captions render correctly in every caption style?
Yes. Urdu captions are set in Noto Sans Arabic, or Baloo Bhaijaan 2 for the comic templates, in both the editor preview and the exported video, laid out right to left with the letters joined, so what you see is what burns. English words and numbers inside an Urdu line keep their own left-to-right order, as they should.
Does it handle Urdu mixed with Hindi and English?
Yes. Code-mixed speech is the normal case. In Roman Urdu mode English words stay English and Urdu words are romanised; in Urdu-script mode English sentences are translated and Hindi is written in Urdu script, never in Devanagari.
Can I get English captions for an Urdu video instead?
Yes. Choose English (Translate) and the Urdu speech is translated into natural English captions.
What does it cost?
There is a free plan with 2 free minutes and no credit card required. Each video uses exactly its own length from your balance. Paid minute packs start at 12 USD or 799 INR and never expire.
