Gujarati Subtitle Generator

Gujarati speech in, Gujlish or Gujarati-script captions out.

Most subtitle tools treat Gujarati as Hindi with a different accent, or skip it entirely. But look at how Gujarati is actually typed on YouTube, Instagram and WhatsApp, in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot and Leicester alike: "kem chho", "majama", "su karo chho". That is Gujlish, and for short-form video it is what your viewers read fastest.

DesiCaptions transcribes Gujarati speech and writes it the way people type it, with the dialect kept as spoken, English words kept in English and Gujarati words in plain Roman letters. Prefer Gujarati script? Switch the language to Gujarati (Gujarati script) and the same video comes out in proper Gujarati letters, still in the words you said, with English sentences translated and the everyday loanwords Gujarati creators actually use kept the way they write them.

Either way every word carries its own timestamp, so word-by-word and karaoke caption styles land on the beat, and the Gujarati-script mode ships with fonts that actually contain the glyphs, so you never get empty boxes, broken conjuncts or a Hindi headline where there should be none.

Why creators use it

Gujlish the way it is typed

Captions come out as "kem chho" and "bahu saru", the spelling your audience already uses in comments. No diacritics, no textbook spellings.

Spoken Gujarati, not textbook Gujarati

The captions say "karu chhu" when you said "karu chhu", in Kathiawadi, Surti or Amdavadi as you speak it. Your viewers notice when a caption sounds like a newsreader.

Gujarati script when you want it

Pick the Gujarati (Gujarati script) mode for a Gujarati-first audience or formal content. Bundled Gujarati fonts keep every matra and conjunct intact in the burned video.

Word-level timing

Every word carries its own timestamp, so word-by-word and karaoke caption styles land on the beat instead of drifting.

  3. Style and export

Choose a caption template, fix any names in the editor, then export a burned-in video or an SRT, VTT, or ASS file.

One sentence, every mode

The same spoken line as DesiCaptions writes it in each mode you can pick for this language:

Gujlish (Roman script)

Aaje hu tamne tamari life ma kyarey na joyeli ek jordaar vastu batavvano chhu

Gujarati (Gujarati script)

આજે હું તમને તમારી લાઈફમાં ક્યારેય ના જોયેલી એક જોરદાર વસ્તુ બતાવવાનો છું

English (translated)

Today I am going to show you something absolutely amazing that you have never ever seen before in your entire life

What is different about captioning Gujarati

Gujarati has its own spellings in Roman letters: "chhe" and "chho" for છે and છો, "nathi", "majama". Gujlish captions use those rather than Hindi spellings, and keep one spelling through the whole video.

Gujarati script has no headline, unlike Devanagari, and builds conjuncts from half-forms such as સ્ત and ક્ષ. A Hindi font draws those wrong or not at all, which is why Gujarati-script captions are set in Gujarati fonts (Noto Sans Gujarati, Baloo Bhai 2), with about 36 characters per automatic caption against 42 in Gujlish.

Frequently asked questions

What is Gujlish?

Gujarati written in Roman letters, the way people type it on phones: "tame kem chho", "mane khabar nathi". It is not a translation, only the alphabet changes, and the words, tone and slang stay exactly as spoken.

Will Gujarati-script captions render correctly in every caption style?

Yes. Gujarati captions are set in Noto Sans Gujarati, or Baloo Bhai 2 for the comic templates, in both the editor preview and the exported video, so what you see is what burns.

Does it handle Gujarati mixed with Hindi and English?

Yes. Code-mixed speech is the normal case. In Gujlish mode English words stay English and Gujarati words are romanised; in Gujarati-script mode English sentences are translated and Hindi is rendered in Gujarati, never in Devanagari.

Can I get English captions for a Gujarati video instead?

Yes. Choose English (Translate) and the Gujarati speech is translated into natural English captions.

What does it cost?

There is a free plan with 2 free minutes and no credit card required. Each video uses exactly its own length from your balance. Paid minute packs start at 12 USD or 799 INR and never expire.
