DesiCaptions vs Captions.ai
An all-in-one AI video studio against a tool that only does captions, for Indian languages.
Short answer
Pick Captions if you want one app for AI avatars, generated B-roll, AI edits and captions, and are happy with a monthly subscription from 24.99 USD.
Pick DesiCaptions if captions are what you need, in Hinglish or another Indian language written in Roman script: one-time packs from 12 USD, minutes that never expire, and SRT export on every plan.

Different products for different jobs
Captions has grown into a full AI video studio. Its paid plans are built around monthly credits for generative features: digital twins, AI actors, generated B-roll, music and sound effects, and turning long videos into clips. If you want all of that in one app, it is a strong product and DesiCaptions does not try to compete with it.
DesiCaptions does one thing: turn Indian-language speech into accurate, word-timed captions, styled and burned in, or exported as a subtitle file. If that is the job, paying a monthly generative-AI subscription for it is paying for features you will not use.
Hindi, Hinglish and Roman script
Generic multilingual captioning treats a video as one language. Indian creators rarely speak one language: a sentence starts in Hindi, takes an English phrase, and ends in Hindi. DesiCaptions transcribes that mix as one stream and writes it in Roman letters, the way your viewers type it in comments, with the same approach for Marathi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati and Urdu. You can still pick the native script for any of them.
Captions lists more than 100 caption languages and does not describe how it handles code-switched speech or which script Hindi comes out in. Test the same Hinglish clip on both free plans before you decide.
Price for a captions-only workload
Captioning 30 short videos a month at about a minute each uses 30 minutes. On DesiCaptions that is a quarter of the 12 USD Starter pack, and the rest stays in your balance. On Captions the first paid plan is 24.99 USD every month. The comparison only flips if you use the generative features too.
